Trolleys in Black and White: Segregation on Public Transit in Washington from 1920 - 1962February 1, 1:30 pm- 2:30 pmBethesda Public Library Participants will learn about segregation of passengers and employees on the streetcars and busses of Washington during the time of the trolley. The program will feature video highlights from the collection of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 689. Bethesda Public Library 7400 Arlington Road Bethesda, MD 20814 Directions from Bethesda Metro: Take the elevator to the street. Immediately, make a U turn to your right to walk west, downhill, on Montgomery Avenue. You will be facing traffic coming towards you on a one-way street. Cross two intersections (East Lane, then Woodmont Avenue) and continue along Montgomery Lane to its end at Arlington Road. The library will be in front of you at the intersection of Arlington Road and Montgomery Lane. Cross Arlington Road and turn right towards the Library parking lot and entrance to the building. |
